Another that Jessica has bought but not tested. High frequency wands

are similar to mole pens/plasma pens, in that one is basically just as

good as any other. The ones that glow orange are supposed to be for

anti-ageing, and the ones that glow blue are supposed to be for acne,

but they both work exactly the same way: by causing a tiny electrical

discharge that turns oxygen into ozone and stimulates the surface of

the skin. This increases circulation and is alleged to stimulate

fibroblasts and collagen building, but the jury's out on whether or

not that happens. The ozone DOES decrease surface bacteria on the

skin, which is why it's very common to use these on acne-prone skin.

I've owned one for a few years now, and really enjoy it. Am I sure

it's building collagen and helping on my anti-ageing journey? Hell no!

Do I love it and find it quite soothing? Yell yeah! If the smell of

The Trifecta - Fix Aging Skin With My Top Three Products

The Problem
Mature skin (and that is technically defined as over the age of 35) often needs SIGNIFICANT help, we loose collagen by approx. 1-2% each year after the age of 25 and life style factors, diet, genetics can make it even worse. In addition to loosing collagen after the age of 25 the skin metabolism slows down. This causes the skin to become gradually drier and less elastic over time. The barrier function is weakened, contributing to a loss of moisture.

My neck has been the hardest area for me to treat. In fact I honestly don't remember when my neck skin looked good prior to starting DIY skin care, even when I was young. It took years of trial an error to discover the right treatments that were the best priced and also the most effective. It is my hope that you can benefit from my years of trial and error.

The Plan

For this treatment plan I recommend alternating each of the products every 10 days (provided that you have no swelling, inflammation, or irritation).

The products I use and recommend are Miracle L (I prefer with a lidocaine kiss , more on that below), Hanheal Exosomes and Laennec .

But I do think you could sub out different brands of the same product categories if you wanted to. The active ingredients are what matters the most - these are just the best priced products that I find give the best results :)

The Products

Hanheal Exosomes

Exosomes help damaged cells heal faster by enabling damaged cells to communicate with healthy cells, which is great for repairing mature skin. Hanheal Exosomes are also packed with other skin healing and helping ingredients including (but not limited to):

* PDRN which stands for Polydeoxyribonucleotide , a covalent bond molecule created using salmon DNA fragments. Miracle L

Miracle L is a Liquid PCL product that comes mixed in a glass vial. Now this product is quite thick and most prefer to fill a syringe with a large needle (23g) then switch out to a smaller meso tip for injection (27g or 29g). This is 20% Liquid PCL (polycaprolactone) which spreads out and builds collagen for 2+ years while your body breaks it down. The collagen restores natural volume, correction of scars after acne, improvement of skin tone, improve Age-related changes in the eye area, correct wrinkles and restores skin structure. Typically 3-5 treatments are needed to see improvement, and some areas might require more. My face only needed 3 treatments while my neck needed 8. Since it takes 2 years to break down it can cause bruises to become trapped if a blood vessel is hit. I recommend practicing your placement with other products prior to figure out your placement/ depth to ensure you don't bruise while using this product or you can use a cannula. I prefer using the Iniblanc technique for the face, while the chest and neck I do a traditional meso therapy technique.

Laennec

Laennec is a very popular placenta product that has been studied and used for a wide variety of health concerns. Laennec helps to rejuvenate and regenerate the skin and soft tissue of the body, also successfully copes with rashes and minor dermatological problems. It helps with acne treatment, baldness treatment, treatment of age-related hyperpigmentation, for preparation and in the process of rehabilitation during plastic surgery, to prepare for contour plastic, and to accelerate rehabilitation processes during deep peeling and laser resurfacing. Has been studied to reduce fatigue, and aid in general health. Laennec improves soft tissue, cartilage and join tissue damage, it helps to improve symptoms related to menopause, peri menopause and post menopause. Most people do swell with this product so a traditional meso technique is advised. The Bap technique can/ will make you swell more.

The Dose

For areas needing significant improvement alternating each product every 10 days is ideal, provided that there is no swelling. inflammation. If there is a reaction of any type then treatments should be paused till they are fully healed, this is true for all treatments.

I alternate using 1 full vial of Laennec (2ml) , 1 full vial of Miracle L (2 ml, with a Lidocaine Kiss $0.20, see next point), and 2-3 mls of Hanheal Exosomes (mixed) . This means you will have left over Hanheal Exosomes, and manufacturers would say to discard after use. However I typically store in the fridge and remix (give a good shake) and try to use within a week. You can also micro-needle this product, or treat other areas with it.

Recommendations and what NOT to DO!

Do NOT use these products together, do NOT mix these products. These ingredients are amazing but each can be temperamental so best to use each by itself and wait 10 days before using another product in the same area.

I recommend that you test these out when if you have a reaction its not a big deal. What does that mean? Well if you work Mon- Friday, testing the product Friday early evening or Saturday morning is best, this way if you have a reaction you can allow the skin to settle in the comfort of your own home.
If you are concerned for a reaction start with half the recommended dose - this will allow you skin to get adjusted to the products and while the benefits will be slower, any side effects will be less

Which Product to Start?

You can start with any of them first, but I do recommend trying to stay consistent with the order. As always make this work for your schedule, I think Laennec causes temporary swelling on many people, Miracle L sometimes does too but so long as you don’t do it too closely together is less likely to. Hanheal Exosomes are the least likely to cause swelling, tho I do get red for a few hours..
I do not recommend you do any of the treatments the day of an important work event or life goal. Since risk of swelling (especially in the beginning) is common, I would try these each first when you have a day or two in which if you swell its not a huge deal. This might mean that you have to wait longer between treatments - that is ok. Make your treatments work WITHIN your schedule. That is one of the beautiful aspects of DIY Skin Care.

Lidocaine Kiss

I prefer to give my Miracle L a Lidocaine Kiss , but if you are new here let me explain to you what that means. That means that I add 0.1ml of liquid lidocaine to the 2ml vial of Miracle L . I then swirl the Miracle L vial around allowing the product to mix. This takes away the pinch of Miracle L and it’s easy.

Note: I do recommend doing your own research on lidocaine and only using a very small amount as needed. You do not need much to make a big impact with lidocaine and too much can have unpleasant side effects.
Also note: I store any unused product in the fridge once its opened.

My Results

My neck made great improvements!!! In fact its better then I have ever hoped.

Common Questions

Question: If I can only stick to treatments every 7 or 14 days due to work commitments which would you do?
Answer: Since these products can cause swelling, and if you treat an area with swelling you can trigger compound swelling I think every 14 days is safer for most.

Question: Can I substitute a different brand instead of the ones recommended?

What Happens If You Inject Something Into Your Skin That SHOULD NOT BE INJECTED INTO YOUR SKIN

First let me reiterate that only products that are designed/ created and intended to be placed in the skin should indeed be placed into the skin . Ingredients and products that are intended to be placed in the skin go through additional testing to ensure that for most customers there is not a major issue with the injection process. While it does still mean that someone could have an allergic reaction, that should not be common and the average consumer should not have a concern when using products that are safe to inject into the layer of the skin that the manufacturer recommends.

In this blog post I wanted to discuss what happens when products that are not intended for injection are injected.

First let me remind you that you should ALWAYS follow manufacturer recommendations for all products and their applications, and also that it is your responsibility to follow manufacturer guidelines when using products for diy.

Now after you have injected anything, if you feel extreme irritation, pain, heat and want to go seek medical attention that is your right. And also if the item you have injected is not intended to be injected, then getting a trained medical professional to help you is a wise choice. Obviously budget, fear, reprimands are concerns when doing this. But if you are in any discomfort i think seeing a medical professional might be the fastest way to get you help.
I also encourage you to be as honest as possible with the medical expert - it is hard for them to advise the best treatment if they are unaware of the problem.I have found that in these situations going to see a medical professional is almost always the neccessary component. So for most sooner will be much better then later.

If you do decide to see a medical professional I encourage you to bring the item you mistakenly injected with you, or at least the packaging so that the medical professional can see what exactly you injected.

I would also seek out and contact the manufacturer to ask what they advise. While I know that admitting fault is not easy, I do encourage you to be honest so that you can get the right help sooner.

Don't be surprised if there response is a " we have to legally cover our butts response" however. That is possible and in some cases even likely. But better to try and see what they have to say.

You can also google search the ingredients listed so that you can assess just how bad it is. Yes this is time consuming and I encourage you to make notes. Ingredients like Retin A can be irritation and cause hyperpigmentation, while other ingredients like vitamin A (retin A) can be extremely irritating when used topically, so one can safely assume that if something were mistakenly injected it could be irritating for even longer.

I think in most cases (provided seeing a medical professional) a gentle massage and hot/cold therapies are the best ways to handle these issues though they will take a while to resolve .

I do not encourage you to treat the area effected with other injectables, while it might make sense to assist in spreading out the product, I think the average person is likely to cause an even worse reaction.

Now here is where I have to break some hard truths to you, I nor anyone will be able to advise how long the discomfort/ irritation/ hyperpigmentation will last. A medical professinoal can assess and speculate - but there are so many variables including how much of the product was injected, how deep etc that its hard to assess. So be patient, remind yourself that you learned what NOT TO DO for this fiasco and strive to DIY better.

***And remember for next time to ALWAYS follow manufacturer recommendations to ensure the best possible outcome while diy'ing.

New to DIY Lip Filler - Here's What You NEED to Know!

It should come as no surprise that I love lip filler. Specifically diy lip filler. Growing up I actually had no upper lip ( sad but true. Here’s a pic for proof) .

I remember being a child and playing with my moms lip liners and drawing in an upper lip, the concept of I overlining was “not a thing” in small town Canada and it should not come as any surprise that I looked ridiculous and wasn’t allowed to wear make up outside my house till I turned 16. Now I would get removed from my home right after my 15th birthday, that’s a whole other story, but it did mean I got to play with make up in the way publicly sooner lol

I had considered lip filler for most of my grown up life, but my intense fear of needles and the cost meant it wasn’t a possibility.

Then I discovered diy beauty and I knew that was something I needed in my life. And honestly I’m so glad I studied and went slow and steady.

But back to my fear of needles, yes I’ve overcome it, and that’s mostly due to my ability to numb really well. For lip filler, I decided to practice numbing techniques. I found taking a 0.25 mm derma roller over the lip area slathered with 10.56% lido to be very effective. Even more do when I remove the cream then repeat after 30 min.

Now before I get too far into which are my favorite Hyaluronic acid fillers for the lip area, I would like to take a moment and remind you that all Hyaluronic acid fillers have a VO risk . Please always make sure you have a full 10 pack of liporase on hand, have injectable safe saline and be ready to use it! And yes of your using a product that has a VO Risk , that risk is there regardless of technique or needle. ( so yes that filler from the Hyaluron pen has a VO Risk )

Now let’s talk the fun Part, the filler itself! Pain is stupid, so I opt for fillers with lidocaine mixed in :) My favorite lip filler is Tesoro fine with lidocaine , I find it blends into the lip tissue the best. It’s what I like using on myself and others. It honestly wants to be your lip tissue. It is the easiest to push out comparably so while if you are new it still might seem tricky, as someone who has used many different types I can assure you it is the easiest to use.

Now that we have the products figured out let’s discuss techniques . There’s so many I felt now and at the time that it was too much for anyone to be able to really review. So I like to keep it simple.

You will want more but this 4 pillow technique will allow you to get comfortable piercing the skin. From here when you touch up you can continue with filling the pillows or a myriad of other techniques. Which if you are interested I am happy to make a follow up video :)

You will want to massage the lips to ensure that the lip filler integrates with the tissues well. When I massage lip filler I like to use one hand to press above the lip line on the interior and exterior while massaging with the other hand, this ensures that the filler should not get massaged out of the lip area preventing migration.

I did Liztox (200u mixed with 5ml injectable safe saline)

So this is my placement based on personal preference, my face and my experience :)

Frontalis: 2 Units in 7 spots = 14 Units

***Note I place them in the shape to encourage my natural brow shape (see picture)

I am approx. 3mm deep but remember depth can vary depending on your muscle.

Corregator: 4 Units in front, 4 Units 1cm over = 8 Units

I am approx. 6mm deep in the front and 4mm deep in the middle but remember depth can vary depending on your muscle.

Procerus: 4 Units in center = 4 Units

I am approx. 6-8 mm deep but remember depth can vary depending on your muscle.

Crows Feet: 6 Units in the center, 3 Units above and below = 12 Units per eye, 24 Units total

I am approx. 4-5mm deep but remember depth can vary depending on your muscle.

***Pros recommend not injecting towards the eye but I do since I find it easier

Brow Lift: 2 Units under end of brow = 4 Units total

I am approx. 3-4 mm deep but remember depth can vary depending on your muscle.

Lip flip: 1 unit, in 2 places 1 cm apart = 2 Units total

***I Only do the one side to help with assymetry

I am approx. 2mm deep but remember depth can vary depending on your muscle.

Dao (Depressor Anguli Oris): 2 Units each side = 4 Units total

I am approx. 2mm deep but remember depth can vary depending on your muscle.

Jawline/ Platysmal muscle: 4 units in 3 spots, 1 cm apart above the jawline, 4 units in 3 spots, 1 cm apart below the jawline = 24 Units each side, 48 Units total Total 116 Units

I am approx. 8-10 mm deep ( I push in with the needle to go past the 8mm needle length) but remember depth can vary depending on your muscle.

I store the remaining mixed toxin in the freezer. Manufacturer and Vendors say to discard. I just remove from the freezer 10-15 min and let it sit at room temperature and it works well for me.

My skin loves PDRN which is a helpful ingredient with mature skin. PDRN molecules are able to stimulate the metabolic activity of cells in your skin to regenerate collagen. It can also stimulate wound recovery through boosting the rate of growth of fibroblasts, the cells mainly responsible for collagen production. So if you don’t have a pdrn meso in your arsenal I highly encourage it!

Liquid PCL Biostimulators

I love a liquid PCL biostimulator, in my humble opinion everyone over the age of 30 can benefit from one. But they can be harder to use so I do’t recommend them for those just starting on their diy journey. PCL stands for polycaprolactone and this powerful ingredient will coat the interior of your skin spiking collage and elastin for up to 2 years. Treatment recommendations will vary depending n the product and the shape of your skin but a general rule is plan for 3-4 rounds in one area, await 2-3 moths and assess. Threads

I love threads, and how they rejuvenate the skin. I recommend you start with 25mm 30 or 31g mono threads (in PDO or PCL0 then progress to the same size screw, then move onto novelty and eventually cogs!

I think everyone needs PCL Screw threads and I love these ones from Acecosm, start with 25mm 30g if you are new and work your way up to larger ones :)

Fat dissolver

I hate fat and fat dissolver is pretty easy and almost painless. Be sure to increase your water consumption to help improve the results for the following week and the day or two before!

Let me count the ways in which I love Dr.Lipo+V , this is the only fat dissolver that I am aware of which is safe to use in the mid and upper face. I am currently using it to sculpt my lower cheek to reduce my nasolabial fold crease and am very happy with it. I am obviously a fan of filler, no worries if you are not, just skip this section! You will need to pick the one that is right for the area you are using it in, as well as the technique.

B-esta10 - I use this for the hand but you can use it anywhere safe for fillers on the body. You get a good amount for the price. It is not recommended for the face/ neck/ chest as its too thick and won’t look natural imho.
